Portugal
If you’re looking for a surfing paradise then you have to visit Portugal. In particular make sure you visit Cortegaca in the North of Portugal; here you’ll find great beaches and traditional food everywhere. If you want to get away from the crowded beaches then you should visit Porto which is in the South of Portugal; here you’ll be able to take up classes in surfing for as little as two euros. Portugal is a perfect destination for those who are seeking culture, sun and sea.
France
Though France is the city of love, it can also be said to be a city full of surfers. We recommend spending a weekend break between March and November, so that’ll be able to ride some quality waves. In particular the West Coast, as the further down the coastline you are the better the surf becomes. The French surf zones like Barriatz, Hossegor and Seignosse Le Penon are perfect if you’re an expert surfer and want to challenge yourself.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote is known to be the most northern of the Canary Islands in Europe, off the Moroccan coast. For over two decades it has been known to surfers as the North Shore of Europe. There are two main surfing resorts on the island, Costa Teguise on the east coast and Famara on the west coast. Costa Teguise is a haven for watersports enthusiast whilst Famara is 1,500 metres of beautiful sandy beaches; great for those looking to relax. If you’re looking for a the perfect surfing break with the magnificent backdrop of volcanic mountains then you need to visit Lanzarote.
Australia
Australia is one of the world greatest surfing destinations. Ideal destination for all level of surfers and swimmers, the dazzling coast encompasses the Pacific Ocean alongside stunning green hills makes for the perfect destination to go surfing. Though Australia is warm all year round, the best time to visit is between April and October for the best waves.
Thailand
Thailand is known to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world alongside some amazing waves. With picturesque landscapes, and affordable accommodation and food, Thailand is perfect for any budget traveller. The best time to surf is between May to September as the Monsoon season swings into full effect. If you want the full Thai experience why not rent a boat and visit the neighbouring islands in the Andaman Sea and jump in a ‘tuk tuk’ taxi and try out some local mango and sticky rice a favourite Thai cuisine.
